XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. XAMPP is really very easy to install and to use - just download, extract and start.
Installation guidelines
- Download the latest Installer of XAMPP and install it on your C:\ (or main) drive. Follow the instructions at Apachefriends to install. It works better when you install directly to C:\, rather than the Program Files directory.
- Start Apache (Web server) and MySQL (database server) services from the XAMPP control panel.
- Unzip the {your theme name} Drupal theme package that you have purchased.
- Locate the [site]/[d7] directory and copy this folder to your local server C:\xampp\htdocs. This directory includes Drupal 7.x core and all of the required modules that are used in the theme. Possibly rename this directory "d7" to "domain", so you can access your local Drupal install at http://localhost/domain.
- In a web browser, go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin and create a new MySQL database. You will need your database username and password during the first couple of steps of your theme installation. You can use the MySQL administrator (root) with no password.
- Browse to the website address http://localhost/domain where you have copied the files. Next select {Your Theme Name} 7.x Installer
- In the next step you will be asked for the Database name, user and password. You can use the MySQL administrator (root) with no password.
- Finally, follow the next steps to complete the installation process.
