You can use this content type to post as many images on the front-page slideshow, as you wish. Simply create a new entry for each image you want on the front-page slideshow. Each of these images can link to either internal pages of your site (e.g.: a Gallery type node), or external resources (e.g.: serving as advertisements / promo material for another site).
