Adding colour schemes

Dave Boulden Jan 15, 2014 05:51PM EET

I am currently producing a site using SuccessInc with the Red colour scheme. I'd like to tweak the colours to a warmer red (to match the red tone in the pre-existing logo).

Would you recommend placing all the override tweaks in local.css or is it possible to add my own custom colour scheme alongside the provided ones that will stay active through any future released updates of the theme? If the new colour scheme is the way to go, is there a way to add it without hacking theme-settings.php (again, so that the changes aren't overwritten in a theme release update)?

Hello Dave,
thank you for contacting us and for allowing us to clarify.

We recommend you to add an extra color scheme. Our color schemes come as independent stylesheets with a specific pattern style-color.css. Just duplicate the style-red.css stylesheet in your theme folder and rename it to style-yourcolor.css.

Finally, in order to have your extra color as an extra option in the User Interface (theme-settings), you should also add the extra color option (value: your color) into the theme-settings.php file. Finally, you should clear all cached data. This step is important in order to force your template to be informed for the changes you have made in the template files. To do this go to Administer » Site configuration » Performance » Clear cached data.

Hope this helps! Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance. We will be always here to help you :-)
