Composer updates

I installed the full installation version of Showcase+. The modules that come installed by default in the modules directory are not listed in the composer.json file. It is not clear how to update these modules, what is the suggested method to update them.

I downloaded them manually and replaced the old versions but it seems that this should be done through composer. Drush 9 which I have installed now for Drupal 8.4 dosen't support module updates so I didn't try updating through drush.

I'm not too familiar with composer, is there a way to add these modules in the json file to include them in the composer update command?

Neither our ZIP file nor the one you download from drupal.org is configured with Composer. You could convert your installation into a Composer-managed website by following the instructions provided in the article below:

Also, please, note that on our end, we perform updates using the latest Drush 8. If you choose not to use Composer and Drush, then you could update the modules manually by downloading and replacing them with the existing ones. For more details, please, read the following instructions:

The other links fail because they are being cut-off in these forum posts.

The "yntoTcI/edit?usp=drivesdk" gets cut-off when its posted as a link. Try it from the forum post and you will see for yourself.

In the future, long URLs should be posted as text because of the forum insert as link concatenation issue.
