fontawesome - Make local?

paul Oct 15, 2017 12:37AM EEST

Hi to all, I'm a complete newbie with Drupal, but I've purchased this theme and it's great.

I've just put the website live, and I'm trying to streamline all the repeated crawl errors, a couple of which are on slow DNS lookups to Fontawesome. I've downloaded the font to install locally, could somebody point me in the right direction of where to change the FA reference so as to get it looking for the local copy instead of the hosted version of the font?

Hi Paul,

Could you mention the name of the theme you are using and your Drupal version, please?

Not sure if this was answered, but I'm interested in this as well. I'm having the same DNS lookup problem, fairly consistently adding 10 seconds to my page load.
I am a subscriber to FontAwesome Pro and would like to disable Level+'s current way of pulling from FontAwesome and add the FontAwesome pro source. How do I change over?

I'm on Drupal 7.56, using Level+.

To pull FontAwesome Pro I can use this method:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="FontAwesome Pro css script" integrity="some stuff" crossorigin="anonymous">

Thank you.

Hello John,

Level+ comes with FontAwesome 4 icons. As far as we know the FontAwesome Pro license that you mention refers to FontAwesome 5.

We are not sure if updating the code to load the FontAwesome 5 icons will work in Level+ as the implementation of the icons is different (svg through JS vs icon font) and also the Font Family name may differ as well. If you choose to go with this you may have to also adjust the theme CSS as well as the templates so that the correct icons are loaded.

If you simply need to load the FontAwesome 4 font locally you can do so by uploading the font files to your server and modifying the font loading code in template.php (lines 320-324) so that it loads this locally.

If you need any further assistance or clarification, please open a private ticket so we can share with you more exact code snippets and instructions.
